Leer libros gratis no quiere decir obligatoriamente hacerlo ilegalmente. Hay una destacable cantidad de libros, y no sólo clásicos, que pueden leerse gratis legalmente. Lo que si hace falta, por ahora, es un buen dominio del inglés, ya que no los hay en castellano.

Los libros disponibles gratuitamente pueden dividirse en dos grandes categorías:

• Novelas antiguas o clásicas, que ya no tienen copyright.
• Novelas modernas (con copyright)

La editorial Tor ha publicado una nueva novela gratuita en inglés por un tiempo limitado. Para bajárosla, primero tenéis que registraros gratuitamente en la web de Tor.

La novela de este mes es Spaceman Blues de Brian Francis Slattery, a la que definen como una novela “retro-pulp” de “ciencia-ficción-misterio-superheroes”:

When Manuel Rodrigo de Guzmán González disappears, Wendell Apogee decides to find out where he has gone and why. La editorial Tor ha publicado dos libros de fantasía gratis en la red por un tiempo limitado. Eso sí, están en inglés y para obtenerlos hay que registrarse gratuitamente en la web de Tor.

War for the Oaks de Emma Bull es una de las novelas pioneras de la fantasía urbana, publicada en 1987.
